James Wellbeloved story begins in Somerset in 1992, with two poorly dogs and one very worried owner, who decided that the best way to help her dogs live a happier and healthier life was to go right back to the beginning – to harness the power of nature itself. Turns out, she was on to something…

Frustrated at the lack of natural alternatives, she switched to creating her own simple food from natural ingredients at the kitchen table.

It didn’t take long for the simple, natural recipes to make a difference and the boxers were soon back to their bouncy selves, with calmer tummies and glossy coats.
And turned into recipes for every dog…
Together with friends, she began to create delicious, wholesome and hypoallergenic recipes for dogs, of every age and every breed, all powered by nature.

Our Timeline 1992 Christine Priest, Robin Jackson and Michael Newsum formed James Wellbeloved™ from the kitchen of a Somerset farmhouse. Their mission: to create an all-natural, hypoallergenic alternative dog food that could alleviate the nasty symptoms of food intolerance. They moved from the farmhouse to a small warehouse and started to provide food direct to breeders. 1993 James Wellbeloved™ Lamb & Rice launched at Crufts. 1997 James Wellbeloved™ Turkey launched. 1998 Say hello to CrackerJacks hypoallergenic snacks! 1999 Turkey recipes for cats launched. It’s time to help cats feel the benefits of a hypoallergenic, naturally healthy diet! 2006 No-cereals dog food is launched for dogs with sensitivities. 2007 Wet food pouches launched. 2008 First production at our very own factory, close to our roots in Somerset. 2017 Celebrating 25 years of James Wellbeloved™ with our first TV ad campaign and a new website. 2021 Superfoods recipes launched. 2022 High protein recipes launched. James Wellbeloved™ brings its naturally hypoallergenic food to Europe.
