Fager Nils Sweet Iron Bevel Bit

The Fager Nils is a stable barrelled sweet tasting bit with a tongue relief. The barrelled tube mouthpiece creates a fast, natural lock in all direction like a straight bit, but can still rotate. This makes the bit a good choice for horses who can get worried in the mouth and unstable in the contact on a jointed bit, but still too stiff on a straight bit. The sidepieces will give you more control with the gag effect, and get a softer, more flexible feeling in the hand.

The tongue relief will create less pressure on the tongue, which suits horses with a large, sensitive tongue.

The Fager Nils Sweet Iron Bevel Bit is ideal for horses that:

• Sensitive tongue, pulls the reins and opens the mouth.
• Unsteady in the connection, but can still be stiff and strong.
• Feels stiff in a straight bit but unstable in a jointed bit.
• Doesn’t instinctively seek out the contact.

Material

Sweet iron is a covering on top of a bit made of stainless steel. The purpose is to disguise the metal taste from stainless steel and create a pleasant, sweet taste. This encourages the horse to seek more contact and hold on to the bit. Following use, sweet iron will start to oxidize and turn brownish grey, this is to be expected.

Sweet iron is a good choice for horses who need to seek more contact with the bit.

Bevel

A Beval bit has a similar effect to a 2½ & 3 Ring Snaffle, but has a softer effect and less leverage. Gives a flexible, soft feeling in the hand. This bit can be used with the reins in multiple positions depending on what effect you’d like from the bit. It can also be used with a gag rein thanks to the special design with bent loop rings on the inside. The gag rein can slide smoothly in the loop rings.
