Blade & Rose’s journey:
Amanda, Jon, Harvey Blade & Issey Rose. Blade & Rose is a leading, British children’s clothing brand specialising in a trendsetting range of leggings and clothing accessories.
Blade & Rose began during my maternity leave in 2010. I was bored of the mundane designs of children’s leggings that were on the market at the time and so began putting together prototypes that all included their own unique and trendy designs on the bottom of the leggings. There was nothing available like this at the time and after the third successful prototype attempt and lots of research, we made the move and Blade & Rose was born.
Since the very first pair of Blade & Rose leggings, our clothing has been made using top quality yarn and it was our belief that a major component of the development was to ensure that the quality of the fabric was durable, functional, would wash well and most importantly, that it would be kind to a baby’s skin – this has remained a fundamental aspect of our company ethos.
We launched the products to a range of high-end, independent children’s clothing stores and gift shops, and the three initial designs sold out immediately – evidence that there are plenty of parents out there struggling with the same predicament I had! I spent the next few months juggling a full-time job and bringing up two toddlers, and used my evenings and weekends to make Blade & Rose a success.
